Overview

An online community created by Masayuki Sakamoto, solo taiko performance artist and ex-KODO member, to share his technique and knowledge of taiko. 

Lessons will focus on performance technique and sound quality, especially in his strong suits of Katsugi-okedo and Odaiko, as well as the “Kanade” and Electric “Taiko-1” drums, which he helped develop and produce. 

His lessons will benefit taiko players of all skill levels, as high-level performance can only be achieved by honing basic technique.

What makes this online collective special?

Previous methods of online teaching, such as live streams or online workshops, had many constraints and were difficult to produce high-quality content with. This online lesson collective was created in hopes of teaching and reaching a wide audience in a more long-term and effective way.

In this online community, members are free to work on topics of choice without the constraint of time, and are also able to ask questions and communicate directly in ways that were not possible through previous online teaching settings. 

Especially because this is a paid subscription-based platform, these lessons dive deep into the details of technique and taiko skill unlike other teaching platforms.

This online community also provides members a collaborative place to learn, share, and discuss with one another - much like a virtual practice studio.
